GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING

AFSA Kittyhawk Chapter 751

5 September 2006

 

1.      The meeting was called to order at 1135 in the Fireside Room at the WP Club, by President Joe Tangherlini, with 24 people in attendance.  Four first time attendees were introduced.

 

2.      CORRESPONDENCE: (Received)

 

3.      REPORTED:

a.      Secretary:  Minutes from 1 Aug 06 GMM were approved.

b.      Treasurer:  July report was reviewed and accepted.

c.       Airman Activities Coordinator:  Requesting volunteers for the Unaccompanied Airman’s picnic on 22 Sep 06.

d.      Membership:  Stacie Parsons - there will be a membership table set up in the BX lobby on 9 Sep 06, 0900-1400.  Andy Anderson stated we stand at 3054 members.  We have recruited 380 for the year.

·        Register to vote:  www.fvap.gov  Select the “State Election Site”

f.        Chapter Web Page:  Rich Striggow – The website is continually being updated, please visit http://www.hcst.net/afsa751/   The new newsletter will be posted soon, and postcards will be sent to all members to inform them.  Anyone that would like a paper copy may request one.

g.      Fisher Nightingale Houses, Inc. (FNHI):  Tony Pence - due to Melissa Weaver’s move to Texas, they are looking for a representative to replace her.  Chris Stanley requests donations for a new House that is going to be built.  For more information, please visit:  http://www.fnhi.org/

h.      Community Action Information Board (CAIB):  Next meeting is 30 Oct 06.

i.        First Term Airman Center (FTAC):  Twelve members were recruited from the last session.

j.        Auxiliary:  Julie– Next meeting 13 Sep, 1900, Durkee home

  

4.      OLD BUSINESS:

a.      Dayton Bombers Chuck-A-Puck:  Tang – No advance on the $130 still due to us. (OPEN)

  1. Dayton Air Show:  Fred – Total beer sales at the air show amounted to $37,597.  We had 102 AFSA volunteers supporting the event and raised $3,062 for the Chapter.  (Closed)

c.        USAF Marathon:  Ruben - 16 Sep 06.  AFSA will support the relay team of; Stacie Parsons, Fred Dembinski, Greg Humphrey and Serena Truett. They are asking stations to have a theme, we are going with the “Bar theme”.  (OPEN)

d.      AFSA International Convention:  Andy -The Chapter won the International Chapter of the Year award, for the third time in a row…Way to go!  Andy received the AFSA International President’s Award of Excellence in recognition of his outstanding work at the chapter, division and international levels. He was also elected as international trustee for retiree and veterans’ affairs.   (Closed)

e.      Standing Policies Review/Updates:  Tang –They are being reviewed, due 31 October (OPEN). 

f.        Unaccompanied Airman’s Picnic:  The AAC’s are requesting volunteer support for games represented by AFSA.  (OPEN)

g.      King’s Island:  All tickets from last season have been delivered.  PKI is under new management and we will continue to request for opportunities to volunteer.  (CLOSED)

 

5.      NEW BUSINESS:

 

  1. Volunteer Recognition BBQ/Picnic – Kristen TenWolde- Once the date has been set, she will request volunteer support.  (OPEN)
  2. Xenia Old Fashion Days and Street Fair – Kevin Martin - 16-17 Sep 06, requests 3 people per shift, 1300-2100.  (OPEN)
  3. Commissary Case Lot Sales 22-23 Sep Chuck Worm will be back to make all arrangements for this event.  He has sent out an email for volunteer support.  (OPEN)
  4. Thanksgiving Baskets, 18 Nov 06 – Stacie Parsons and Tony Pence have volunteered as Lead and Alternate for this event.  Chuck will give them some OJT when he returns.  (OPEN)
  5. Tang & Rich got Orders -Tang has an assignment to Nellis AFB, NV with a reporting date of 25 Oct 06, but has requested an extension to Nov 06.  Rich has orders to Keesler AFB, MS to report in Feb 07.  (CLOSED)
  6. South Vienna Sweet Corn Festival - Kevin Martin- 9 Sep 06, requests 2 people per shift, 1200-2100.  (OPEN)
  7. Yellow Springs Street Fair - Kevin Martin - 14 Oct 06, 0800-1800  (OPEN)

·        Ruben - AFSA will not be giving a briefing at Newcomers, but we will be allowed to have a membership table.  (CLOSED)

·        We need to form an Election Committee, so if anyone is interested, please get in contact with Ruben.  (OPEN)

·        Dennis Drayer, President of AFA’s Wright Memorial Chapter, introduced TSgt Billy Tramel a student at AFIT and also one of AFMC’s 12 Outstanding Airmen of the Year.  (CLOSED)

 

6.      The meeting was adjourned at 1220.  The next General Membership meeting is 3 Oct 06.
