
MINUTES OF THE
GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING
AFSA Kittyhawk Chapter 751
1. The meeting was called to order at 1135 in the Fireside Room at the WP Club, by Vice President Ruben Garcia, with 27 people in attendance. Three first time attendees were introduced.
Guest Speaker: CMSgt Martin Smith/88ABW/CCM
Chief Smith gave a great briefing with a lot of useful information. Did you know that over 1100 enlisted are being forced to retrain? Or, that 3000 less are able to enlist? The length of Basic Training has been extended.
There have been two recent DUI’s, you must use your “wingman”. Those committing such an offense will meet with the Vice Wing Commander in service dress uniform with their Commander and First Sergeant.
He states that the round US emblems are coming back to the uniform, the NCO shoulder boards are going away, and that the PT uniform will be mandatory 1 Oct 06.
He announced that CMSAF #1, Paul Airey will be the guest speaker at the SNCO Induction Ceremony on 25 Aug 06.

3. REPORTED:
a. Secretary: With a change made in Old Business, 4.c., the word “given” to “earned”, the minutes from the 11 Jul 06 GMM were approved.
b. Treasurer: The June report was reviewed and accepted.
c. Airman Activities Coordinator: More information coming regarding Unaccompanied Airman’s picnic scheduled for 22 Sep 06.
d. Membership: Rodney Hromada – reminds everyone to ask all newcomers to the base to make sure they change their membership to our Chapter. Recruited retired enlisted, Auxiliary members and DoD civilians. Andy Anderson says we stand at 3172 members and the Aux has 286. We have recruited 358 for the year and retained 131.

Andy says that you should read your “Sergeants” magazine. There are several great articles in the August 2006 issue, to include: FY 2007 NDAA status Defense Authorization Bill, the Defense Advisory Committee on Military Compensation, and our very own First Term Airman, A1C Ryan M. Kocak.

i. First Term Airman Center (FTAC): The next session is 17 Aug 06. Twenty-one of the last group of 22 became new members.

4. OLD BUSINESS:
a. Dayton Bombers Chuck-A-Puck: Ruben – A check for $600 has been received as interim pay, with about $130 still due to us. (OPEN)
c. USAF Marathon: Ruben - 16 Sep 06. Volunteers for the marathon must register online: http://tools.marathonguide.com/volunteerregistration/usafmarathon.cfm AFSA will support the relay team of; Stacie Parsons, Fred Dembinski, Greg Humphrey and Sarina Truitt. They are asking stations to have a theme, so we are going with the “Bar theme”. (OPEN)

e. Standing Policies Review/Updates: Ruben –They will be ready for review by the September meeting. These are due in November (OPEN).
f. Unaccompanied Airman’s Picnic: The AAC’s would like to have one game represented by AFSA. (OPEN)
5. NEW BUSINESS:
a. Open Discussion:
· This is Chris Eaton’s last meeting; he is due to PCS mid August. (CLOSED)
· We have yet to receive any information about volunteering for Kings Island. (OPEN)
· Chris Parsons says that they need a volunteer to help with the Newcomers table. Fred Dembinski says he may be able to help with that. (OPEN)
6. The meeting was adjourned at 1240. The next General Membership meeting is 5 Sep 06.
